Southern Highlands Wildflowers

The Southern Highlands region of NSW is located just west of the Illawarra Escarpment. Generally the altitude is over 500m. Soils and vegetation are very diverse. Rainfall is heavy in the east, up to 1200mm, but falls rapidly to west near Marulan at around 700-800mm. Lower temperatures and winter frost define the winter climate from that of the adjacent Illawarra coast. Occasionally every few years snow will even fall.
